Panama aims to become an internet and digital services hub for all of the Central American region, the Andean region, and the Caribbean, thanks to a new state-of-the-art hub that will feature the latest technology in digital services, this hub will be built by a joint venture between Sparkle, an internet service provider from Italy, and Trans Ocean network, a Panamanian telecommunications company.

Millicom International Cellular S.A. has announced that it will invest 250 million dollars in Panama, for a major expansion plan, that includes strengthening, upgrading, and expanding its mobile and fixed internet services, by building new infrastructure in underdeveloped areas such as Bocas del Toro, Darién, Coclé, and Ngäbe Buglé, this investment plan will impact around 800,000 residents of which 200,000 do not have internet coverage, bring more people into the digital world.

The Republic of Panama keeps strengthening its energy portfolio, this time Panama is conducting a feasibility study with the company Energy Transfer, to build two liquified petroleum gas terminals, one in the Atlantic and one in the pacific, both connected through a pipeline. The agreement hopes to expand the international operations of Energy Transfer into new markets while providing Panama the opportunity to be a distribution center of different petroleum products to international markets.

The government has recently approved measures meant to reactivate the truism industry as well as to boost the economy, including a "master plan for sustainable truism" from 2020-2025. One of the biggest bets of this plan is the cruise port at Amador, a multimillion-dollar project that hopes to increase tourism.

President Laurentino Cortizo has announced a comprehensive and multilateral plan, to generate cheaper and cleaner energy, enhance the power transmission as well as providing electricity to thousands in rural areas. This strategy translates into reducing the commercial cost of electricity to attract foreign investment and to reduce the price of electricity paid by consumers.

Panama gave the green light to the order to proceed with the construction of Line 3 of the Panama Metro. The contract for the execution of this project will cost $ 2,844.1 million and was endorsed on February 9 by the Comptroller General of Panama. The work will use the monorail system, which is expected to have an approximate demand of 160,000 passengers. It also includes a tunnel with an approximate total length of no more than 5.3 kilometers divided into two sections and construction will take about 33 months.

According to data released from the Panama Canal Authority, a total of 58 LNG vessels transited through the Neopanamax Locks, totaling 6.74 million Panama Canal tons during January. The previous monthly records were set in January 2020 with 54 transits and in November 2020 with 6.23 million PC/UMS.
